Driven by the owners’ personal desire for contemporary sushi, the Rawbar was opened six years ago in Chico and has developed into a thriving restaurant. The Rawbar provides an exciting way to experience sushi and fusion Asian Cuisine in an unconventional environment. The Restaurant’s modern industrial design consists of local artists’ glass and steel works, which provide a unique and inviting atmosphere for both veteran and beginning sushi lovers. Six years of winning the “Best of Chico Awards” along with features in Sunset Magazine and Restaurant & Institutions Magazine have all contributed in making The Rawbar’s reputation grow year after year.

The restaurant serves both modern and traditional sashimi, nigiri sushi, and maki (rolled) sushi, as well as a large selection of cooked appetizers, salads, soups and sweets. The ribs have a 100% guarantee you’ll love ‘em distinction and all the ice creams and desserts are made in house. The Asian Fusion style menu emphasizes clean, pure healthy food. Premium imported and domestic sakes, creative saketini cocktails, and an eclectic beer and wine menu are featured from the bar. The Rawbar also carries an extensive hot tea selection as well as home made lemongrass and ginger sodas.

Masaki Tanaka is the master Sushi Chef who has headed the training program for our new generation of Sushi chefs and brought the unusual practice of cutting whole tuna every week to Northern California. Jorge Vasquez is the head chef who runs the hot food kitchen The dining room is overseen by the Owners themselves as well as Ryan Rogers the General Manager. Sushi/ Sake Classes are held monthly as well as event dinners and party catering of all sizes and types.
